Longer Wheelchair/Access ramps should have a 1:12 ratio, as per ADA standards and may require a contractor. Inexpensive ramps are available for over a threshhold or up one step.
This is a comparatively inexpensive option with lots of choices in sizing to suite your door.
I don't see any customer ratings yet and I have not used this one myself, so I can't comment on performance. Keep in mind that just like any other awning type - you will need to watch the snow load on this in our Canadian winters!
I got this one:
I like that it is not really wide so it doesn't take up a ton of space in the entry and includes shoe storage to reduce tripping hazards - see next point!
I bought this one because it is a very low profile (less chance of shuffling feet catching it), has a rubber back so the floor below is protected, and is grey, so it goes well with the bench.
If you need a rug, consider:

They should extend beyond the first and last steps.
They are easier to use with stiff hands or limited mobility.
I switched to these for a couple reasons; they were economical (6 pack made them just over $20.00 each), they are pretty and match the decor in the suite, and they do not lock. I didn't want to have to worry about Mom accidently locking herself in or out of a room! I was able to also find the matching exterior door/deadbolt set
If you aren't that handy, have a contractor switch door hinges for swing-clear hinges, designed to provide more space. I don't need these quite yet, but I found these ones.
They are very highly rated by customers, economical, and appear to be very simple to install even for us not-so-handy people!
Install motion sensor lights or dusk sensing lights in outdoor areas for security.
Rather than spend a lot more money on new fixtures, I found these to replace just the bulbs and still have the dusk sensing ability.
I initially bought a different pack, not realizing they were not outdoor rated! Make sure you read descriptions!
An outdoor camera and/or video doorbell is highly recommended. I love being able to see who is at the suite door while I am upstairs or not home.
Again. my choice was:
At first glance it appears more expensive however this one stores to a video card so there are no subscriptions to pay - in the long term, it's actually cheaper.
